Railways plans to set up clinics at stations

Soon rail passengers can avail treatment at railway stations as the Railways is planning to set up health care facilities at major stations.

"Taking all views into consideration, we have decided to set up 'pharmacy with clinics' at railway stations as need for such a facility was being felt for long," a senior Railway Ministry official said.

The health care facilities will be set up in those major stations that are being developed as 'world class' ones, he said.

The Railways under an ambitious plan have taken up development of 26 major stations as 'world class stations' across the country.

These stations will boast of modern amenities, including health clinics, the official said, adding a list of such stations was tabled in the ongoing Parliament session.

Three stations in the Capital -- the New Delhi, Anand Vihar and Bijwasan -- have been identified for setting up the clinics.

Besides, other stations like Amritsar, Chandigarh, Kanpur Central, Lucknow and Varanasi stations (under Northern Railways) will have the facility, the official said.

Likewise, Mumbai CST, Nagpur, Pune (Central Railways) and Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram (Southern Railways) and Howrah (Eastern Railways) will boast of such clinics, he said.
