Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has clarified he fully respects the institution of Lokayukta and at no point of time had he criticised the Lokayukta.
The Chief Minister said he spoke to the Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde today and made it clear that neither he nor the institution of Lokayukta was criticised in the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
"The reports with regard to Lokayukta appearing in a section of the press are baseless and malicious", Yeddyurappa said in a statement.
"Lokayukta is a statutory body and I have full respect for the institution", he said. "The relationship between the Government and the Lokayukta is very cordial and I am committed to maintain this relationship".
