The Delhi Police filed its first chargesheet in the September 13 serial blasts in the Capital at a city court on Tuesday.
In the 76-page chargesheet in connection with Karol Bagh blast, the Special Cell has named Amir Raja Khan, founder of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), as the “main conspirator” of the Delhi blasts.
The five IM suspects in custody — Mohammed Shakeel, Zia-Ur-Rehman, Saquib Nissar, Mohammed Saif and Zeeshan — have been charged with murder and other offences, including waging war against the state and attempt to murder, under the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Explosives Substance Act.
The September 13 blasts had claimed 26 lives.
The police have also mentioned that investigation into the case revealed that there were 22 persons involved in carrying out the blast at Karol Bagh. Two were killed in the police encounter at Jamia Nagar on September 19, and 12 others are still at large, the chargesheet said. It said one accused, Mohammed Mansoor Peerbhoy, is in Mumbai Police’s custody.
