Faheem Ansari, Sabauddin sent to police custody

Two alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives, Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin, brought to the city from Uttar Pradesh in connection with aiding the terror attack in the city, were remanded to police custody till December 31 by a magistrate court in Mumbai.

Ansari and Sabauddin, arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force for their alleged involvement in the December 31, 2007 attack on a CRPF camp, were brought to the city late Wednesday.

The duo were produced before a magistrate's court on Thursday where the police sought their custody on the grounds that they are suspected to have aided arrested terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman in carrying out the attacks.

Ajmal, the lone terrorist arrested of the ten who were involved in the November 26 terror strikes, is presently in police custody.

Ansari and Sabauddin are alleged to have carried out reconaissance missions at locations in the city and could have passed on the information to LeT operatives from across the border.
