Delhi Police file third chargesheet in Sept. 13 serial blasts

Suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists Mohd Sajid, who was killed in the Batla House encounter here, and Zeeshan Ahmed were on Tuesday accused by Delhi Police in a court here of planting bombs in the heart of the Capital during the September 13 serial blasts here.

The police alleged that Sajid alias Pankaj Sharma along with Zeeshan, who is in the custody of Ahmedabad police, had planted bombs made with improvised explosive devices at Barakhamba Road here following the conspiracy hatched by Pakistan-based mastermind and IM founder Amir Raza Khan.

In a chargesheet filed before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Bansal, the police charged seven accused -- Mohd Saif, Zeeshan, Zia-ur-Rehman, Saquib Nissar, Mohd Shakeel, Quamuddin and Mohd Sadiq Sheikh -- with murder, attempt to murder and waging war against the country under the Indian Penal Code.

They also invoked provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against them.

According to the police, a total of 28 accused were involved in the blasts case. Out of them, 16 are already under custody at different places while 12 are still absconding.

The blasts at Barakhamba Road here had killed two persons and injured 28 others.

The court put the chargesheet for consideration for January 21 and issued production warrant against six accused, who are in the custody of Ahmedabad police for their alleged role in the serial blasts there.

The police also secured non-bailable warrant against 12 absconding accused for February 14.
