Theatre group to perform Marathi play 11 times at a stretch

A group of Marathi theatre activists will look to enter the record books as they attempt to perform 11 shows at a stretch of a recently launched play based on the life of Swami Vivekananda.

The play will be performed continuously for 40 hours as a mark of respect and tribute to those who lost their lives in the November 26 terror attacks, the producer of the drama, Prof Pradeep Dhawal and director Ashok Samel said at a press conference here on Friday.

This show will go a long way in creating love and affection among the present day youngsters of the nation, they said adding that the group is trying to enter the Limca Book of World Records as well as the Guinness Book of World records.

All the 35 actors in the drama have agreed to act in the drama without charging a penny, the duo said.

The play 'Sanyastha Jwalamukhi' based on the novel 'Narendra tay Vivekananda Ek Zanjavat' by Pradeep Dhaval, was first staged on Dassera this year.

The drama will be performed at the S P Joshi hall here from Saturday 0800 hours onwards.
